About Bernie
Bernie Chiaravalle is originally from Marin County, CA just north of San Francisco. He played throughout the Bay Area throughout California leading his band Logos before moving to Los Angeles in 1983. There he met and made an alliance with David Pack (formerly of Ambrosia) joining forces to write and record together. They co-wrote “Sky Is Falling” for the Ambrosia Anthology album and “Light My World” for David’s Unborn LP.
In 1988 David was playing guitar and singing in Michael McDonald’s band (formerly of The Doobie Brothers). Pack was going to leave McDonald’s band to pursue solo projects so it was then that he suggested Bernie as his replacement. Bernie hit it off with Michael right away and joined his band in July of that year and he’s been with him ever since. They developed a songwriting relationship that produced well over 2 dozen songs. Bernie also co-produced Michael’s acclaimed album Blue Obsession in 2000 which he also co-wrote for songs for including the hit “No Love To Be Found”.
Bernie toured the US and the world with Michael while continuing to write and produce music. Over the years he has performed onstage with Toto, Billy Preston, Kenny Loggins, Cher, Don Henley, Hall & Oates, Average White Band, Marc Cohn, Vince Gill, Ambrosia, Jackson Browne, Chaka Kahn, The Doobie Brothers, Jeff Bridges, Christopher Cross, Wilson Phillips, Henry Capono, Charlie Bisharat and many more.
Bernie has also co-written and/or produced songs and performed on studio albums with Amy Holland (McDonald), Jon Vezner, David Pack, Bill Lloyd, Pat Simmons, John Goodwin, Chazz Frichtel, Midtones, Michael Dinga, Tommy Sims, James Sayer, Larry Carlton, The Waiting, John Tesh and many more.
In 1998 Bernie made his home in Nashville’s Music City where he resides to this day. He has 15 solo albums to his credit all available here on the BC Store. Please visit www.berniechiaravalle.com for more info.
